About Black Rock

What is Black Rock?

Black Rock is a Vancouver Island Region PCA, charity event weekend   including driving and social activities. This event runs from Thursday to Sunday and in 2022, will be the tenth Black Rock fundraiser weekend. The main event is located at the Black Rock Oceanfront Resort, in Ucluelet, situated on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. The fundraiser event supports two major charities: Cops for Cancer “Tour de Rock” and the Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Brigade (UVFB).

Black Rock is multi-region event intended to bring PCA members together, to share friendship and passion for Porsche vehicles. Members have attended from nearby regions such as:  BC Interior, Canada West, Wild Rose, Polar region, Pacific Northwest, Silver Sage, and Olympic Peninsula. The event has multiple activities over 4 days, as well as time to just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery and wilderness areas.  Even the drive to get there is enjoyable, with its hilly and twisty roads.

Main activities for the event have included, a Thursday evening Welcome Reception, Friday night Beach BBQ and fireworks, Saturday night Members’ Gala Dinner & Auction and Sunday morning Brunch. Other member activities may have included Autocross, High Performance  Drivers Education (HPDE), overland events, pedestrian Poker Rally, Nature Walks, Show & Shine on the pier, whiskey tastings, or a Sunday morning Porsche Parade. In previous years, the Friday night BBQ cooked by the Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Brigade is a favourite with the local community who are invited to the beach dinner. The Club uses the Tofino airport runway and taxiway to hold Autocross and HPDE events.  We are very fortunate to have Steve Cropper and his qualified team of HPDE instructors as well as Conrad Peden and team to run the Autocross event. All instructors volunteer their time, with many travelling a long distance to join the event.

Fundraising events have included, burger lunches at the driving events and an evening beach-front BBQ including salmon or burgers all cooked and served up by the Ucluelet Volunteer Fire  Brigade, with the funds raised going to UVFB.   Other events included silent and live auctions of goods and services generously donated by Island businesses.

Event participants can choose what events they wish to participate in, to allow time to take in the local sights if desired, or take advantage of the spa and other amenities at the resort.

With the support of our business and community partners, we raised $23,300.00 for Cops for Cancer and $8300.00 for the Ucluelet Volunteer Fire Brigade in 2018, which was the most recent year we were able to hold the event,
