North Island Father’s Day C&C
We were able to resume the Comox Valley Cars & Coffee, on Sat. June 13, and had an excellent turn out of 14 members, from Campbell River, Comox Valley and Nanaimo, plus 3 people that dropped in to chat about Porsches. Our location in the Crown Isle Plaza, gives us very good exposure. With Father’s Day being the following Sunday, I suggested it might be nice for members to share their thoughts, on being a Father, or memories of their Father. I must admit, it was not received with much enthusiasm!
I gave everyone 10 minutes, to put some thoughts together. When the 10 minutes was up, and no men stepped up. The first one to speak up was Roslyn Nickel, bless you Roslyn! She told us, that it was their son Derek, who was crazy about Porsches, and he thought his Dad & Mom, should buy a Porsche and join VIR PCA, which they did. Dave joined in at the end, with a few more very interesting details. Henning told us that his Dad had a Porsche, when he was young and he always wanted a Porsche. Long story, short, Tanya surprised Henning, a few years ago on his birthday, with a Porsche. John Clark shared some boyhood memories of his Dad. Whatever sport John took part in, his Dad always made sure he had good equipment, even though money was tight. It was a great end to our first Cars & Coffee in awhile. Thank you.
