Valentine’s Day Lunch
The Feb. 9 Comox Valley Cars & Coffee, was a luncheon at Crown Isle Resort, Atrium Room, a celebration of Valentines Day and VIR 23rd birthday, Feb. 10. Paul Atterton, Up Island Director, was on vacation, so Wendy Woodley, Goodie Store, formerly the Up Island Director, looked after the event. It was a beautiful sunny day, with snow on the ground. Unfortunately, the snow prevented the attendance of Kathy & John McGurran, President and Jenny & Steve Fairbrother, Newsletter Director. In attendance were Henry and his sister, visiting from Alberta, Trevor & Jackie, Andrew & Treasure, new members, and Peter, all from the Comox Valley. I decorated the room with 9 Porsche posters that Paul received from Porsche Centre Victoria.
Each person was given a paper heart with their name, for the draw of “Goodies”, which included a Black Rock cloth bag & car washing essentials, a Motorgathering cloth bag & Porsche glass water bottle, Porsche socks, key chain, and pin, a bottle of wine, a Mount Washington Alpine Resort toque, and a MWAR Summer Scenic Chairlift ride Gift Certificate for 4. Thank You to Henry Ellis for taking the pictures.
Everyone enjoyed their lunch, including the delicious Black Forest birthday cake. We may have been small in numbers, but everyone was happy. I brought 4 boxes of past Panoramas, that were given to me, by past member Dan Ryan. Everyone looked through the collection, with some members finding a particular issue of interest to them. Trevor was happy to find the issue from years when we used Crown Isle Resort, as an event venue, before Black Rock. There was an article & pictures in the “From the Regions Section”. Just before lunch was served a man came walking into the room, with an arm load of Porsches goodies, to leave with us. Apparently, a friend of his, just sold his 1998 Black Boxster and was going throw them out, but his friend had seen this event mentioned on our website, so he brought to us. Peter “adopted” a Boxster Manual, Trevor some spark plugs. I still have Black touch up paint & lacquer, that someone can have for FREE.
I also have a 2010, Wayne R. Dempsey, “101 Projects for your Porsche Boxster”, in mint condition, retail value $38.99. I am open to offers, with the money to go to the SPCA. A cheque can be made out to the SPCA, then the purchaser will receive a Tax Receipt.
All and all it was a great day, and we met some new members.
