West Coast Drive
Write up to follow but here are a few pictures from the awesome weekend Dan organized.
2019 Springtime West Coast Drive.
The weekend drive started on a beautiful, sunny Friday at Transfer Beach in
Ladysmith with thirteen people and seven cars. Tops down, we made our way
to NoXcuses Motorsports Experience and Cafe in Parksville, via back roads
through Yellow point, Cedar, Nanaimo, Lantzville and Nanoose. At NoXcuses
another twelve people and six cars joined us for our drive to Port Alberni
for a wonderful lunch at Little Bavaria Restaurant. After lunch we
continued onto Ucluelet. Up and down mountain passes, twisty, winding roads,
and a brief stop for construction near Kennedy lake put us into Black Rock
Oceanfront Resort just after 4pm. Our total time from Ladysmith to Black
Rock was 6 hours and 13 minutes. We settled in, had food and drinks, some
even spotted a bear on the beach.
Saturday was relaxing, with some people going to Tofino, stopping at Cox Bay
for a walk on the beach to watch surfers. Tour of Tofino Brewing Company,
lunch and a walk downtown rounded out the visit to Tofino. Dinner and
drinks were held in the Wine Cellar at Black Rock Oceanfront Resort.
Breakfast/brunch was at the Heartwood Kitchen, and Chef Ian did a wonderful
job hosting two seatings with everything from Eggs Benny to Ukee Fried
Chicken & French Toast, and complimentary fruit trays.
I would like to thank the participants for attending, and it was such a
pleasure to meet everyone. A special thanks to Brad Blaney for his help in
